We all want it, that sexy flat stomach that is so hard to achieve. After thousands of crunches and planks we see little success. There are secrets to getting your best belly that most people don’t know and it’s not their fault. But I’m going to reveal amazing secrets that will help you to access your abdominals and banish the flab.

First of all, crunches can be effective if you do them right. Before you sit up, suck air in and tighten your abdominals and when you sit up blow out but keep contracting. Resist when you go down as well. There should be a constant contraction. Imagine your ribs flattening out to the sides. This activates all abdominal muscles and makes each repetition more effective.
Make all 360 degrees of your core strong. We tend to focus on the trouble zone without thinking of the supporting muscles. There are many different fibers that make up the muscles of your midsection. To have a balanced and toned front it helps to work the sides and the back. So don’t forget to include lower back and side abdominal strengthening moves in your routine. Your lower back helps you to stand up straight which stretches your entire body for the appearance of a long sleek body. The side abdominals called the obliques whittle your waistline to create an hourglass figure. Belly dancing is great way to work out the entire core. Just think about it! You are constantly doing a 360 with your waist. Enough said.
Another important inclusion in your workout routine is balancing moves. When you challenge your body to balance itself by doing single arm and leg moves you force it to use the core muscles to hold itself upright. This results in a more toned and skinnier midsection. Yoga is a great choice in this type of exercise. Also, instead of mostly lifting your head and shoulders into a crunch, try focusing on lifting your legs up towards the ceiling while lying on the ground. These types of moves target the lower abdominal muscles more which is where our dreaded pooch is at.
Getting a sexy midsection isn’t just about the exercise. You have to eat right as well. It doesn’t do any good to have ripped abs if it’s hidden under a thick layer of fat. So shedding the extra weight is crucial to a skinnier tummy. Of course this is no secret. But there are important things to do to help shed those extra pounds, especially in the belly.
First of all, avoid the alcohol. We all know where the term “beer belly” comes from. So if you are going to drink, limit it to one or two per day. Number two, skim on your use of artificial sweeteners. They are proven to cause bloating. Eat a lot of non-processed whole grain and organic foods. They are the closest thing to eating out of a garden in your back yard. Which, let’s face it ladies, is the way we were meant to eat. All of the chemicals and additives in processed foods literally make your body think it is sick and it slows down the metabolism and starts storing energy to combat this “sickness”. Don’t even get me started on all of the sugar and fat included in these foods. One last thing, hydrate! Drink at least 8 cups of water everyday to help flush out the body and drop the weight. A lot of times when we are thirsty our bodies make us think we are hungry. Making sure we drink plenty of liquids helps us to feel fuller longer.
Including these rarely used exercises and eating well will help you to tone your midsection and create a beautiful tummy. Before you know it, you will be baring your midsection with confidence.

Perhaps you have been wondering if a personal trainer is right for you. When deciding between the two, there are a few things you need to consider: your personality, your personal trainer’s personality, and your checkbook.

Ok ladies, have you been mulling around the idea that maybe you need more than just a gym membership to get those rockin’ curves you’ve been trying for? Perhaps you have been wondering if a personal trainer is right for you. When deciding between the two, there are a few things you need to consider: your personality, your personal trainer’s personality, and your checkbook.

First of all, look deep inside yourself.

Do you feel comfortable having someone knowing your weaknesses and telling them to you? A personal trainer is just that-personal. She will ask you whether you sat down last night and ate a pint of Mocha Almond Fudge before going to bed. She will ask you whether you drank just one Margarita last night or a pitcher of Margaritas. She will tell you your exact body fat percentage and where you are sagging, bulging, or lacking. Now keep in mind, this could be a good thing if you can handle it. Obviously, you want to change your body and stay healthy if you have the gym membership anyway, and this personal attention by a professional could be what you need to make those abs hard, buns perky and legs sexy. That brings us to our second consideration….
You have to find the right personal trainer for you. Make sure she is certified, experienced and professional. She should already have clients, but not too many so that she can give your quads the attention they need. Have a meeting with her before hand, maybe even a trail session. You are placing your body in her hands! They had better be competent hands! This person will be making you jump, run, and sweat you butt off (if she’s good) and we tend to get cranky when we are at this point. We don’t want someone whose hairy mole or annoying voice is grating our nerves. Also make sure this person is creative in her workouts, up on the latest fitness information and motivating. It is very important that she motivate you. Being fit is just as much mental as it is physical.
This brings us to our last (and biggest) consideration: money! Personal trainers can be just the thing to get us over a plateau or lose those last few pounds, but they can be costly. Depending where you live they can be anywhere from $50-100/hour. One session a week for a month would cost you a good shopping day at the mall. So if you think you are motivated, informed, and happy enough at the gym, save your money. But what would be the point of saving for that cute black strappy dress if you don’t look smoking hot in it?

Everyone who finally comes to the decision to get into better shape is faced with the question of either joining a fitness studio or working with a personal fitness trainer. Find out 4 good reasons why you should have your own trainer.

Everyone who finally comes to the decision to get into better shape is faced with the question of either joining a fitness studio or working with a personal fitness trainer. Both have benefits but one is obviously better then the other. Working with a personal fitness trainer is like having your very own coach at your side. It is doubtful you are going to get that from joining the large chain fitness studio. Take a look at some of the benefits of working with a personal trainer:
A great benefit for you when working with a personal trainer is they will be able to keep you focused on your goals. A personal trainer will know what your goals are, how to achieve them and will plan a program in line with achieving those goals. It is very easy to get sidetracked or distracted when working out in a gym by your self, but a personal trainer will always keep moving in the right direction toward success.

Another benefit for working with a personal trainer is everyone working alone tends to lose motivation as the weeks past by. By having a trainer at your side if your motivation begins to wane you will have someone to pump you up and keep you moving in the direction of success. Personal trainers are skilled in developing and maintaining motivation in customers as this is a common challenge for many who are trying to get into better shape.

Many times individuals try to go the fitness road alone by reading books or purchasing a DVD program. But the problem is the information on them is only communicated one-way, from the book or DVD to you. There is no technician on the spot when you need help with a new routine or movement. Working with a personal trainer means having a technician right there at your side, evaluating your movements, correcting your efforts and teaching you new ones properly before bad habits are formed.

Personal trainers are professionals certified by National fitness organizations that test their skill and knowledge. This includes hard and soft skills or people skills and technical skills alike. They are professionals in their field and they take great pride in the results they can provide for customers. Because of their personal and professional skills they are able to design customized programs that will assist their customers to achieve the desired fitness and weight loss results.

Whether to join a fitness studio or work with a personal trainer is really a no-brainer when you look at all you can gain with a personal trainer. It doesn’t make sense to continue and struggle to get into better shape alone when there are personal trainers who can make it much more effective and enjoyable. The cost of a personal trainer is comparable to a joining a fitness studio but the results you will obtain with a personal trainer are far greater.

As always, check out our latest deal to experience what its like to have your own trainer today (for free!).

There is a new exercise craze in town, and many people are now talking about Boot Camps as the hottest workout to come out these days. Anyone can actually join – as long as you are moderately fit and ready to sweat it out.

Fitness boot camp is a type of training regimen that is usually developed by personal trainers, gyms, and even those who come from the military. They are highly touted as one of the best “fast weight loss programs,” because they combine a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic activities, such as interval training, running, weights, plyometric exercises and the like. It actually incorporates some parts of military basic training, so people usually exercise in groups, and most of the activities are done outdoors.

Three Mac Donalds stores duke it out in a corporate Boot Camp Challenge… Mac Donalds and Boot Camp? Hmm… how ironic.

Boot Camp from Urban Energy on Vimeo.

A typical boot camp consists of most of the following: Nutrition advice and a workout regimen that lasts around 30 to 60 minutes which include push ups, squats, lungers, speed training, sprints, team competitions, obstacle games or courses and fitness assessments. Also, there are warm-up and cool down sessions that last around 10 minutes or more. Usually, the number of people per group is around six to fifteen people, and they will be given a pre-orientation which consists of fitness assessments, class rules discussions, and safety guideline tips.

What makes boot camp popular is that the activities are really designed to help you lose weight. Although some of them might be very rigorous for the average exerciser, those who can keep up with the challenge are rewarded with a higher level of physical fitness because they are usually pushed to the limit – much like what you see in military boot camps. In addition, they encourage team effort and camaraderie, and combine it with different outdoor settings, makes for a fun and spontaneous way of staying in shape.

There are many kinds of fitness boot camps, and some of them have evolved to cater to targeted goals and even demography. Some of the most common ones include: Bride boot camps, general fitness, weight loss, ski, running, soccer, bicycling camps, senior boot camps, kiddie fitness camps, and women-only boot camps. Usually, after the very first few moments of the initial meeting, people will soon realize that the instructors mean business, so they should be prepared to stretch themselves beyond their limits. However, this does not mean that these instructors rule by intimidation. Most of them combine it with fun to make sure that you are getting in shape and having fun at the same time.

Urban Energy puts on multiple Boot Camp classes up and down the Gold Coast.

Whether you are a beginner when it comes to exercise or a training buff who wants to make your workouts more effective, having a good fitness plan can make the difference when it comes to having a fit, toned, and healthy body all year round. There are plenty of ways you can achieve this. You can either join a gym or hire a personal trainer to help you achieve your fitness goals. However, one question that is often asked is how effective both these methods are in assuring you of good results. Is there any difference in the quality of training that you will get if you train in a gym or you train with a personal fitness instructor?

These answers actually depend on you, your motivations, and your personality. Having a personal trainer is very effective in many areas, but motivation a huge one. Motivation is a great tool to accomplishing any goals, and no matter how hard an exercise routine is, it becomes easier to handle with the right frame of mind. However, setting motivation aside, the effectiveness of an exercise can be subtly affected by whether or not you use the gym for your training or you seek the help of a personal trainer. The difference may be very subtle, but its effect on the quality of your training can be noticeable, especially if you take stock of your progress.

One way this can be seen is through time. When using the gym, there is a lot of unnecessary time wastage, especially if your gym lacks sufficient equipment to service all the users. In most cases, you wait your turn when it comes to using an exercise machine, and the time it takes while waiting for someone to finish their laps or sets can be a waste of time on the gym user’s part. This can be aggravated more when a lot of people are using a particular set of machine all at the same time.

Having A Trainer To Help Is Some Times A Good Idea

People who hire personal trainers have the advantage of having their own exercise equipment to use privately. Therefore, they can start right away and finish ahead of time. You not only save time — but you also save a lot of frustration as well.

Also, gyms who also give fitness trainers as part of their program are not as effective as when you hire a personal trainer. Usually, gym trainers have a lot of things to do and people to look after, so the time spent teaching you valuable fitness tips and correcting mistakes are greatly lessened. However, with a personal trainer, you can be assured that their time and effort are focused solely on you, so you can learn more from them.

So, after gulping your fourth round of pecan pie, you have finally decided that you are going to lose weight. This is good news for everyone, especially your boyfriend who acts like “You- Don’t- Need- To- Do- It-Because- I- Love- You- Just- The- Same”, yet is secretly ecstatic about it.

Now that you are embarking on this adventure, what should you do first? Get a personal trainer. Or go to the gym. Or both. Actually, you can do anything you really want, but if you want to get a personal trainer, here are some things you need to know:

PROS

First, personal trainers are good when it comes to motivation. If you have a trainer you can be sure your going to get the best training session you can in the shortest period of time.

Second, personal trainers can give you knowledgeable information about diet, nutrition and exercise. They will tell you the right stance when you are performing the squats, or how to handle the weights. They will give you valuable information about the right kinds of food to help you lose weight, and can even tell you which brands have fat contents that can really make “the fat lady sing.” They know the proper portions of food you should eat according to your body type and weight requirement, plus they can teach which kind of supplements you can take to increase your muscles or your metabolism.

Third, personal trainers can give you a more customized workout than trainers working at the gym. This is because their main focus is on you – so they will take their own sweet time in trying to understand what makes you and your body function at its best (and worst). Gym trainers often have limited time because they have to cater to a lot of clients all in one sitting.

CONS

However, having a personal trainer on the surface may seem to be a lot more expensive then the gym, but what it lacks in quantity it makes up in quality. Expect to pay $30 a week for a membership to a gym and about $60 a week for a trainer. Which gives YOU the most value depends on the type of person you are.

If you are really motivated, don’t mind waiting for equipment, and fighting for space with a ton of 18-25 yr olds then the gym may be your thing.

If you need a little motivation, like someone to make sure you get the results you want in a private environment then a trainer is probably the better option.
