I was once told this ” Dont start anything you dont think you could see yourself doing for the rest of your life” i think it is really good saying because loosing weight and being healthy isnt a weekly thing only thing that will work is a lifestyle change. we need to change our life not our diet.

There’s an american book called Skinny Bitch and it’s all about dieting and all the disgusting things in foods… all I could eat for two months was tofu and egg whites.. everything else grossed me out. Wouldn’t suggest reading that one!

I’m a personal trainer, and I do agree that if you’re not in a calorie deficit then exercise, especially weight training, *will* burn your fat… but build your muscle at the same time! (its not possible to convert it but it does do both things). I don’t think trainers believe that women don’t ‘bulk up’, but just have a different perception of it to most people. We’re around athletes, bodybuilders etc on a daily basis, so a bit more muscle – in comparison – isn’t ‘bulky’ by definition!

Have to say, agree with the Paul McKenna love. With a mixture of his CDs (on my iPod now, he has a very soothing voice when doing the eyes-closed excercises!), and also taking loose pointers from an Eat Right For Your Blood Type (I’m AB) I’ve lost 3 stone… and more surprisngly, I’ve kept it off for a year! Makes the last 15 years seem almost bearable lol!

@ThingsToKnow101 Well said! To all the personal trainers out there – There are women who bulk, stop telling us we’re crazy :)

  9. On August 22, 2010 dazzledust25 says:

@KerryMarie3 I do. But I always refer to ‘my diet’ in this context as it’s what I am eating I’m talking about rather than the nutrition value of what I’m consuming. Confusing. I did have a little think about that before I said it though haha

Another great book is called Intuitive Eating — it talks about a lot of the same principles and was really helpful in me developing a better relationship with food!

  22. On August 22, 2010 ThingsToKnow101 says:

OMG. I also really bulk up when I workout on the machines at the gym! Every trainer said I was crazy, that women don’t bulk up….well my legs would get bigger…and so would my pants size. ;)
