There is a new exercise craze in town, and many people are now talking about Boot Camps as the hottest workout to come out these days. Anyone can actually join – as long as you are moderately fit and ready to sweat it out.

Fitness boot camp is a type of training regimen that is usually developed by personal trainers, gyms, and even those who come from the military. They are highly touted as one of the best “fast weight loss programs,” because they combine a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic activities, such as interval training, running, weights, plyometric exercises and the like. It actually incorporates some parts of military basic training, so people usually exercise in groups, and most of the activities are done outdoors.

A typical boot camp consists of most of the following: Nutrition advice and a workout regimen that lasts around 30 to 60 minutes which include push ups, squats, lungers, speed training, sprints, team competitions, obstacle games or courses and fitness assessments. Also, there are warm-up and cool down sessions that last around 10 minutes or more. Usually, the number of people per group is around six to fifteen people, and they will be given a pre-orientation which consists of fitness assessments, class rules discussions, and safety guideline tips.
What makes boot camp popular is that the activities are really designed to help you lose weight. Although some of them might be very rigorous for the average exerciser, those who can keep up with the challenge are rewarded with a higher level of physical fitness because they are usually pushed to the limit – much like what you see in military boot camps. In addition, they encourage team effort and camaraderie, and combine it with different outdoor settings, makes for a fun and spontaneous way of staying in shape.
There are many kinds of fitness boot camps, and some of them have evolved to cater to targeted goals and even demography. Some of the most common ones include: Bride boot camps, general fitness, weight loss, ski, running, soccer, bicycling camps, senior boot camps, kiddie fitness camps, and women-only boot camps. Usually, after the very first few moments of the initial meeting, people will soon realize that the instructors mean business, so they should be prepared to stretch themselves beyond their limits. However, this does not mean that these instructors rule by intimidation. Most of them combine it with fun to make sure that you are getting in shape and having fun at the same time.

“Serious” Advice From A Gold Coast Personal Trainer- Studies Show Ice Cream Is Good For The Flu?
Na not really…
but here’s what you can do
Power Your Immunity, Your guide to killing a cold…
This is an assembly of the latest research on how to arm your immune system so it will strike at the first sign of a tickle in the throat or immediately after a suspicious double sneeze. Or right after you wake in the morning feeling a bit flat. These are symptoms of a cold or flu building. Don’t wait until sets in. Knock in the head immediately with these tips. These could be the difference between needing two days off work or just getting a sniffly nose.
Strategy 1. Eat a large healthy breakfast. Research shows eating a breakfast containing around 1200 calories increases the bodies immune system immediately. Eg. Sultana bran + low fat milk + glass of orange juice + toasted muffin with jam or peanut butter + banana smoothie. Wow! That’s a lot of food, but it will do the job.
Strategy 2. Swap your daily coffee for a green tea.
Strategy 3. Get a solid nights sleep. Aim for 8 hours of unbroken sleep. Research shows wearing light clothing such as a t – shirt and shorts in the hours before you go to bed adjusts your body temperature enough to improve your sleep and immune system.
Strategy 4. Exercise regularly. Research shows that regular moderate exercise increases white blood cell production and decreases colds and flu by 25%. Also if you are unlucky enough to get a cold, you should have it for a shorter duration. Weight training and walking are both excellent.
Strategy 5. Reduce prolonged stress. Prolonged stress of more than a couple of hours is detrimental to your immune system. Do something that relaxes you at the first signs of stress. Try deep breathing, meditation, yoga, stretching, exercise, reading, music etc.

Australia today has the most number of people who are on a diet. The ironic thing is that Australia also has the most number of obese people compared to anywhere else in the world. Now, this contradiction may sound absurd, but there is logic behind it. The truth is, as people get obsessed with their weight, they become desperate to go on any weight loss diet. And when they have already reached their targeted weight loss, they go back to eating the same way they did before. This is not a good thing to do. Usually, diets make the body feel deprived, so the body’s tendency is to slow down the metabolism so it doesn’t have to burn too many calories to conserve its supply. So when a person goes back to their normal eating habits, they have a much lower metabolism rate, which means that they will burn their food at a much more decreased rate. So what do they do when this happens? They go back to dieting. And then their metabolism goes down more. The cycle continues.
This is only one of the thousands of reasons why a lot of people are obese right now, and the number is increasing. Diets never really work, although many people still have this preconceived notion that they do. They go hopping from one diet fad to the next: Scarsdale Diet, Atkins Diet, Beverly Hills Diet, Grapefruit Diet, Blood Type Diet, Fit or Fat Diet, No-Protein, High Protein, No-Carbs. Is it any wonder people are becoming stressed in figuring out which diet will work for them? The truth is, most of these diets contradict themselves. And as long as a diet forbids one food from another or excludes one or two from the rest, deprivation will be the result. And what happens when you feel deprived? You pig out and feel bad about yourself. There goes another diet out of the window.

So what is the best way to go on a diet? Simple: Don’t go into one. Instead, practice moderation in everything that you do, especially eating. You can eat anything that you want, as long as you don’t go overboard. Also remember to eat your recommended fruits and vegetables, drink your water, and do some simple aerobic and non-aerobic exercises everyday. Also, don’t neglect your emotions – take the time to find out what makes you happy and surround yourself with loving and supportive people. If you do these things, you won’t have to read another diet book again — and you will see that your grandmother’s advice had been right all along.
By using a personal trainer to guide you through a process of lifestyle changes, you can “re teach” yourself good eating habits long term. Habits which can stay for life, not for only as long as you starve yourself.
